Lot's to do and see in California

Rental Customers Itenerary

Good morning Rick:
Please find attached two pics, one yesterday after arrival and setup, the other this morning of sunrise on Candlestick Park Stadium. After battling WalMart Rush Hour, Grocery Store Rush Hour then Rte. 101 Rush hour we were finally able to toast arrival at Candlestick Park RV Park at about 6:30pm.
Whew. It was a long day from 3:00am Eastern Time to finally hitten’ the sack at 9:30pm Pacific (12:30am Eastern).
Heading for the city in about 30 mins. Let me know if these don’t come over well and I’ll resend.

Sorry for the delay on these. Yesterday was a looooong drive from SFO to Humbolt State Beach via Rte. 1 Shoreline Hwy. well, It would have been shorter had it not been for the 100 mile cycle race going on holding traffic up for nearly 50 miles up the road. Oh well.Anyway, arrived in Humbolt Beach about midnight and got up this morning for the trek to Crater Lake. Should be there in about half an hour. Here are some pics of this trip thus far stopping at a turnout mid-way between SFO and Ft. Brag (yesterday), Humbolt State Beach and Redwood Natl. Forest just east of Crescent City on Rte 199.

Hello from Crater Lake. Get just enough signal here to get off an e-mail. Beautifull weather, beautiful place…

Hi Rick, Back in cell coverage now coming down from the Salmon River.

Beautiful weather is still holding and seclusion is the word of the day. We’re on our way to Humbolt Redwoods State Park in Weott (skipped the stay at Castle Crags just so we could add a day at Crater Lake and then in the Redwoods). These pics are from the ride down from Crater Lake to Salmon River where we stayed at a old campsite my Grandfather and I used to “make” on the river and a small campground on the south fork.

Also some pics of the gorge on the drive down Salmon River Road to get onto Hwy 199 and ultimately 101..

European Visitors comments from Yelp

Posted on Yelp

I'll try to be brief, although there is a lot to say. Being from Europe we were quite cautious about getting an RV for our trip to the US. I did a lot of research on the net and contacted lots of rental companies as well as some private people. I think we left things quite late in the day as there wasn't actually that much available, but one of the companies that we did get an offer from was Family RV. Our trip was planned so that we spent 5 days in San Francisco before catching the Cal Train down to San Jose, where we then got a taxi to the Family RV site. We were greeted with smiles and handshakes and made to feel very welcome. Due to my worries before hand I had been talking to some of the people at Family RV via Skype and email before the trip, with most of my correspondence with Alan, who I discovered was actually the owner. As far as the rental is concerned, we hired a 31 foot RV for 6 adults, and although this was an 8 berth model two of the beds were a bit cramped to sleep 2 side by side, but more than ample for 1 person if you slept at a bit of an angle. For 2 families of 2 adults and 2 children this model would be perfect though. The RV itself was perfect. We had no issues at all the whole time we were on the road, which was 8 days in total. We visited the beautiful West Coast, stayed at some amazing beach campsites for 4 days before moving inland to visit both Sequoia and Yosemite national parks. WE HAD THE MOST AMAZING TIME!!!!! It was an experience that all 6 of us will speak about for many years to come. With over 2500 photos and 11 hours of film on the video camera we are in the process of selecting the best photos and editing the video to show all of our friends who are very eager to see what we got up to. When we got back to San Jose we cleaned the RV unit ourselves on site at Family RV. They were kind enough to lend us a water hose, buckets, mops, rags, shampoo, a vacuum cleaner and so on, so all 6 of us spent an hour cleaning the unit before we handed it back to them. I mention that we cleaned it ourselves as I was worried that this was an area where they would be able to deduct money from the deposit that was taken from my card. I had read many horror stories of people losing some of their deposit due to them returning the unit in worse condition than they had received it. With 3 girls doing the inside and 3 lads doing the outside we did a thorough job and after inspection they gladly announced that they were not taking anything extra from our deposit (except for some extra mileage that we had, but we were aware of that from the start). They were even kind enough to purchase 4 chairs and a grill that we had bought ourselves, so at the end of the day we were more than happy. Overall my comments are based on one experience, but all in all it was better than I ever expected. I cannot fault Family RV in any way, they were very professional in their approach towards us and everything that they promised turned out just as expected. My deposit was credited back to my credit card within 5 days, so I have absolutely no complaints. I will be making a blog of our trip (there are already loads of photos on Facebook). If any of you are interested then give me a shout. Would be glad to tell you more. Once again I just want to thank Family RV for making our holiday so special. We will certainly be using them again if we ever wanted to tour California. Kind regardsJames and the crew(james.balson@seznam.cz)

Message to customers / renters
A few things to think about when your calling for prices to rent an RV for your trip. Traveling with the family, friends, business associates or just by yourself, think of the following as you search for that RV to take on that so well planned (or not) getaway trip.

OK, so you got the idea a few years ago, or more recently, to get out of town to visit sites and enjoy the outdoors. In the past you have traveled by plane to exotic destinations, taken the car on the long road trips and stayed at relatives or friends and got to enjoy their emotions.

NOW IT IS A MOTOR HOME TRIP, LET'S DO IT, YOU SAY!!

So here are normally the steps in getting this tripped planned and set up in this sort of order you need to decide on:

dates of travel
who is going
how many miles
where to go
what campgrounds to visit
what to take
what to do
what to see
what's it going to cost (vehicle expense, gas, campground fees, food, activities)
WHERE DO WE GET THE RV FROM (let's get on the net and shop) ****
Here is where we can help you plus all of the above questions also, read below please.
First time you have rented or even if you have rented a few times here is some advice to ensure that all the above works out the way you have planned and dreamed.

To ensure that you trip is one to remember with great memories instead of I should have please do the following:
(this is from experience since 1985 RV business and since 1970 in retail)

get on your computer and search what works best for you
find the location that meets your requirements
get quotes to rent an RV in writing (nothing verbal)
get the type of vehicle you are getting in writing (or do you get any one they have in stock (make, model, vin #, options)
does the facility have back up plan if something happens to that vehicle (or do they have just one)
do they answer the phone when you call and are knowledgeable (will they answer if there is a concern on the road?)
do they follow up in writing what they say
do they have a facility where you may take a look at the RV your renting
are their qualified staff with experience to address all your concerns (insurance, features and service)
has the unit been properly serviced (remember you are taking a road trip in someone else vehicle, did they service it)
is this a personal RV (these individuals do not have business license, is this legal?, what if there is a problem)
if this is a business how long have they been in business, do they have qualified personal
have you visited this business to view the RV, is it clean,, maintained, are they good at what they do?
You need to see the RV you are renting and gather information on; the company, the past rental customers, testimonials, do some research because this is your trip, your vacation, make it a great one.
DO NOT JUST PRICE SHOP WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT YOU ARE GETTING FOR WHAT YOU ARE PAYING, PLEASE!!
Owner, the managers and the employees at Family RV are in this business to do it right. Email us, call us, visit us, review all of the above and see that we are what we say, THE BEST AT WHAT WE DO.

OUR PRICES ARE NOT THE LOWEST, JUST THE BEST FOR WHAT YOU GET. QUALITY PRODUCT, GOOD PRICE AND THE BEST SERVICE. CONTACT US AND SEE BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER YOUR TRIP, WE ANSWER THE PHONE WITH A LIVE BODY (during business hours) OR 24 HOURS A DAY VOICEMAIL AND EMAIL. THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT AND NEED (like the Verizon team) "Can you hear us now"

We are here for you to make it a great trip.
