We rented a 31' Class C motor home for our family trip and had a great time. Went to Yosemite, then traveled to Grand Canyon and spent 12 days on the road. The RV we rented was a Winnebago with a slide out and all the amenities. The vehicle was very clean, had a TV, DVD player, awning trailer hitch for our bike rack. Every time we parked we pulled out the slide opened the awning and plugged in. Air conditioning, TV and all the amenities made RVing better than the best hotel. The check out process was very detailed and we understood how to use it and when we returned we had it cleaned and filled with fuel and took less than 30 minute to check it all in. We are beginning RVers and plan to do 3-4 trips a year, so renting a trailer is the way to go for us. Family RV is easy to deal with, and their San Jose location is very convenient. They have nearly new rental trailers with slide-outs and give you a good training on how everything works before you take off. We used their 24 hour on-call service once. Steve helped us out when the fridge started beeping. We were dry camping and the small trailer we rented only had one battery. We own a Honda 2000 generator so we were OK. Family RV recommends reserving campsites with hookups for their RVs although those must be booked months in advance. Family RV staff is friendly and helpful and we will continue to use them.
